Lucknow: On Wednesday, the SSP Kalanidhi Naithani suspended the Husainganj police check post officers on getting information about drinking in a public place. A video was sent by the local people on the anti-crime helpline, after which action was taken against four policemen including Sub Inspector.
According to the SSP, action has been taken against all due to negligence on duty. The ASP protocol will investigate the case and Inspector Hussainganj warned against it. On receiving complaints of drinking liquor in the open till late night in the capital, the SSP had directed the police station in-charge and outpost in-charge to take action in this regard.
Despite this, the video went viral on social media while some people consumed alcohol in public places. Taking cognizance of the case, information about the said video was made. It is then revealed that the video is of a beer shop near the Burlington intersection.
After confirmation, Hussaingganj outpost in-charge Ankit Kumar Verma, head constables Om Prakash Chaudhary, constables Rahul Tiwari, Satish Kumar, and Sushil Kumar were put on the line.
The SSP has directed the station in-charge to close liquor shops at 10 am. Along with this, people have requested to give information on number 7839861314 of the Anti-Crime Helpline on getting information about drinking in public places. The SSP says that the names of those giving information will be kept confidential.
