(Milcah Anila, Intern Journalist) WASHINGTON: We often hear that there will be a change in behavior if they are together for six months. There is a fact in this. If we stay with each other for six months, those who bought our features … their habits will overwhelm us.
As well as the question of whether people who have lived together for years begin to resemble each other at the same time has haunted scientists and psychologists for generations. Numerous studies have been conducted on this since the 1980s. Are still ongoing.
However, a recent study of this phenomenon has revealed some interesting facts. According to a report, researchers at Stanford University in the United States have taken photos of thousands of couples who have been together for years to analyze the matter. The team utilized advanced technology to analyze the faces. In the early 80s, researchers had to rely on volunteers to analyze this.
How they studied
Ph.D. student T-McCord, along with research partner Michel Kosinski, sifted through thousands of photographs of couples available in the public domain. Photos after 25 years of marriage .. Photos were taken before they got married. Thus data on approximately 517 pairs were collected. Stanford researchers enlisted the help of volunteers.
Volunteers were given a photo of the target and five other photos. One of these 5 photos also features a target partner. The researchers then asked volunteers to observe facial similarities in all of these photos. The same thing was done with facial recognition technology.
What is observed?
These findings refute the Stanford University researchers’ claim that couples who have been together for years are similar to each other at one time or another. He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture. It revealed that people are more inclined to choose partners with facial features like themselves instead.
