(Rishitha Jaladi, Intern Journalist)Delhi: Congress chief Sonia Gandhi is meeting with chief ministers of seven states to discuss the opposition’s approach to the postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) scheduled for next month.
In 7 state CMs meet with Sonia Gandhi on JEE and NEET issue, Bengal chief minister Mamatha Banerjee suggested, state governments can come together and appeal against SC decision disallowing deferment of the exams. Others have also supported the decision to postpone the exams.
Students say ‘favoured cities’ as exam centres are still elusive for many of those who live in rural areas. Floods in some states, the Coronavirus outbreak, unaffordable transportation are other reasons being cited. “Are exams more significant than the lives of the students?” Ambitious candidates for the JEE (Mains)/NEET (UG) examination are up in arms against the Centre’s decision to hold the competitive exams in September. Many applicants took to social media to elevate their concern regarding NEET and JEE exams.
