Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist) Strict action has been taken by the government on those who get GST returns by creating fake forms. 115 fake firm operators, a man studying a chartered accountant, a CA firm’s partner have been arrested from Gujarat.

These people got GST returns and input tax credit of about 50.24 crore rupees by creating fake forms. Rigorous data mining and data analytics have helped a lot in catching this fraud.

CA’s third-year student Prince Manish Kumar Khatri is alleged to have been involved in the registration of 115 such fake forms and helped these ineligible firms to obtain an input tax credit for unfairly receiving GST payments.

According to sources in the Finance Ministry, 55 such suspected firms have been registered in the area of ​​Vadodara and Ahmedabad Commissionerate GST. The rest come under the commissioners of Bhiwandi, Gandhinagar, Jodhpur, Bhavnagar, and Thane.

The investigation has revealed that these firms used to issue fake invoices without supplying goods or services and used to get an input tax credit (ITC) based on these fake bills.

According to sources, the IP address of these fake transactions has been acquired. These IP addresses were used for GST returns. Similarly, they have also got mobile numbers, from which OTP used to get GST related work. Similarly, the places where fake firms have been registered, from where the GST returns have been filed, have also been identified.
