(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); The Supreme Court has today allowed the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore to organize NLAT 2020 on 12 September. However, the Supreme Court said that the institute will not declare the result of the examination unless the court gives a decision on the validity of this examination.
The former vice-chancellor of NLSIU, Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao and the parents of the students had filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the sudden decision to separate NLSIU Bangalore from CLAT 2020 and conduct separate NLAT 2020 examination. The petition said that this action by NLSIU has created unprecedented uncertainty and has also put an undue burden on students who are now uncertain about the future program.
The consortium of law colleges in the country has 23 colleges and has set the CLAT 2020 exam on 28 September, while NLSIU has fixed the NLAT 2020 exam on 12 September.
