(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): The Telangana government on Saturday decided to sell onions at the rate of Rs 35 per kg through farmer’s markets. Significantly, onion prices have increased sharply in open markets. According to an official press release, onion has started getting available in 11 Raitu (farmer) markets operated by the government at cheaper rates from today. Small farmers can sell vegetables directly to consumers in the Raitu markets located in the state capital. According to the release, only two kilograms of onion will be sold to a person, and to buy onion, the customer must also have an identity card.
