Saloni Subha (Intern Journalist): The Bihar government has decided to extend the lockdown until 31 July due to a surge in Covid-19 cases. The decision of imposing the lockdown was taken at a meeting of crisis management group (CMG) headed by chief secretary Deepak Kumar.
The CMG has decided to reimpose lockdown restrictions, starting from the state capital Patna, district headquarters, sub-divisional headquarter, block headquarters, and municipal areas for a period of 16 days, said Anupam Kumar, secretary, information and public relations department (IPRD).
The public transport will not be allowed in areas under fresh lockdown, while taxis auto rickshaw will be permitted across Bihar and so will be private vehicles. The transportation of goods through public transport will also be allowed without hindrance for loading and unloading at the warehouse, said the secretary. There would be no ban at construction activities. According to the guidelines issued by the ministry of civil aviation and ministry of railways, air and rail transport will remain functional.
Last week, the CMG had empowered the districts to take a decision on the recomposition of lockdown restrictions. The new order supersedes all orders issued by the district magistrate concerned.
