(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) New cases of corona infection in the country continue to boom. The death toll in the country has reached close to 39 thousand. On Tuesday, 52,050 new cases of the corona were reported.
This is the sixth consecutive day when more than 50,000 Covid-19 cases have been reported. The good thing is that the number of people recovering from the infection has crossed 12 lakh.
The death toll has risen to 38,938 with 803 deaths in the last 24 hours. Cases of infections have increased to 18,55,746 in the country, of which 5,86,298 people are undergoing treatment and 12,30,510 people have recovered from the disease after treatment.
Foreign citizens are also involved in total cases of infection. The recovery rate of patients has gone up to 66.31 percent, while the death rate has come down to 2.10 percent.
Dr. Lokesh Sharma, the scientist and media coordinator of ICMR, who has conducted more than two crore tests so far across the country, said that “Till August 2, 2,08,64,750 samples have been tested out of which 6,61,892 samples were tested on Monday. This is the highest number of investigations in a single day so far.”
He said, “In July, with an average of 3,39,744 investigations per day, 1,05,32,074 investigations were done in a month, which is the highest in a month so far.”
