The number of crocodiles and crocodiles usually does not increase rapidly. There are two main reasons for this. Both of them lay their eggs in the riverbank. Many eggs are destroyed by movement in it. Secondly, small children are preyed upon by other creatures. In this case, 40 to 50 percent of the children are able to survive to adulthood. However, due to the vigilance of Chambal’s environment and the forest department, their number is increasing in Chambal.
The Gharial project was started in 1979 by declaring Sanctuary in Chambal. Till the year 2013, the number of crocodiles in the forest range of Uttar Pradesh was only 905. In the year 2019, their number has increased to 1842. Not only crocodiles in the Chambal river, but crocodiles are also growing. There were 611 crocodiles in the year 2018.
