(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): Japan’s largest automobile company Toyota Motor has announced the launch date for its upcoming new sub-compact SUV Urban Cruiser. The Urban Cruiser based on the Maruti Vitara Brezza will be launched in India on 23 September next week. Pre-booking of Urban Cruiser is on. This SUV can be booked by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. Customers can book at Toyota’s dealerships or both online.
Toyota has come up with a special offer for customers pre-booking the Urban Cruiser. Under this offer, customers will get the benefit of a special maintenance package. Under the Toyota India offer, customers who book this SUV before the launch of the Urban Cruiser will get a no-cost periodic maintenance package from the company for 2 years. That is, the maintenance of this new car for two years will be absolutely free. With the Urban Cruiser, customers will get a warranty of up to 3 years or one lakh kilometers (whichever is earlier). After the launch of the new SUV, Toyota may increase the price of its service program.
The prices of the new SUV will be announced at the time of its launch on 23 September. Dealer sources say that it may be priced around the Brezza, but it will be slightly more expensive than the Brezza. It can be priced between Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 11 lakh. The Urban Cruiser sub-compact SUV will be the second rebadged version of Toyota’s Maruti car. Earlier, Toyota is selling the Baleno hatchback car in the name of Glanza in the Indian market.
Pictures show that the interior of the Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV will be similar to the Maruti Vitara Brezza. However, the change that is clearly visible is Toyota’s badging on the steering. Along with this, dual-tone dark brown shades have been used in the cabin of this SUV. In terms of size, the Vitara Brezza offers a much larger cabin.
