(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): In the Corona crisis, the fight over the examinations was very much discussed. In which the UGC was adamant about the final year examinations in view of the future of the students, but now it does not want to have any such confrontation with the states regarding studies. This is the reason that nothing will be imposed on universities for studying, but everyone will be given full freedom to make decisions related to it at their level. He will be able to take the full decisions of the way he wants to teach the students.

That is, which students want to be called in class, who do they want to teach online as if they will now make all the decisions at their level. However, instructions have been given to make a 30 percent course online. The UGC does not want to create any new disputes with states and state universities anyways. This is the reason that in the new guidelines being prepared for the education of the closed universities and colleges, the states will be authorized to take full decisions related to it.

This guideline is expected by the end of September. Currently, all universities have to conduct final year examinations by 30 September. On which UGC is keeping a close watch. Amid the Corona transition, the UGC first issued an academic calendar in April, asking all universities to conduct examinations in July, as well as to begin their studies in September. However, the proposed examinations were postponed in July after the outbreak of Corona infection.

Also, the first and second-year students have been asked to promote on the basis of internal assessment, while giving time for the final year examinations till 30 September. After this, disputes started with the states and the universities of the state. Actually, about half a dozen states and their two hundred universities did not want to conduct any examination. Many of these states had also declared it unilaterally. However, of the nearly one thousand universities present in the country, most were in favor of UGC. Later, even after this dispute reached the Supreme Court, a decision was taken in favor of the UGC.
