(Suparna Ghosh, Intern Journalist) London: Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that by Christmas this year, Britain could retain its normalcy, but also warned that the country still needed to prepare for the worst. The country is slowly in a phased manner lifting its lockdown measures as the caseload and infection rates fall.
Johnson said, “It is my strong and sincere hope that we will be able to review the outstanding restrictions and allow a more significant return to normality from November at the earliest-possibly in time for Christmas.” It is said that from August 1, the country will see an easing of lockdown restrictions, public areas are to be opened, casinos, bowling, skating rinks are also on the list.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced 3 billion funding in order to face the second wave of the deadly pandemic which is yet to occur. The funding will be immediately available and all the private hospitals will have access to it in order to ease the winter burden.
The country is thus gearing up and is firm in retaining the economy. Johnson also said that the government will increase its testing capacity and flexibility. UK now stands at 293k cases along with 45,119 deaths.
