In his tweets, Mr. Amit Shah said that “On National Sports Day, I salute all the players who are making India proud with their passion and hard work”. The Union Home Minister said that “Modi government is not only promoting sports but also committed to grooming young talent through initiatives like Khelo India and Fit India”.
Mr. Amit Shah paid homage to hockey magician Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary, saying that “Major Dhyan Chand was a great sportsman, he won three gold medals at the Olympics and mesmerized millions of sports lovers with his magical technique.” His talent, achievements and devotion to his motherland will always inspire generations to come ”.
Legendary hockey player Major Dhyanchand was born on 29 August 1905. Every year, 29 August is celebrated as National Sports Day in his honor.
