(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): In yet another shocking and shameful incident of sexual assault reported from Uttar Pradesh, an 80-year-old widow was allegedly raped by her 40-year-old son, an alcohol addict, at their residence in the Mohammadi area of Lakhimpur Kheri district on Tuesday night.
The accused returned home in an inebriated condition late on Tuesday night and forced himself on his mother, while his 12-year-old daughter was sleeping on the adjacent cot. When the octogenarian protested him, he allegedly threatened to kill her. He, then, overpowered her and raped her.
Hearing the noise, the minor daughter of the accused woke up and ran out of the house. Subsequently, the locals came to know about the incident. They informed the son of the octogenarian’s elder son, who then registered a police complaint on Thursday.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case of rape against the accused and arrested him. Further investigation into the matter is underway, superintendent of police Vijay Dhull said.
