Lucknow: UP Panchayat Elections 2021 Dates: In Uttar Pradesh, the Allahabad High Court has given big and strict instructions regarding the village government i.e. three-tier panchayat. The Allahabad High Court has directed the State Election Commission to conduct panchayat elections in the state by April 30. This direction has been given by the Division Bench of Justice MN Bhandari and Justice RR Agrawal.

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday has fixed the date for panchayat elections in the state on the petition of Vinod Upadhyay. The court directed to hold the election of Pradhani by 30 April and asked to hold the election of the block chief in May. The Allahabad High Court has directed the State Election Commission and the Government of Uttar Pradesh to announce the dates of the Panchayat elections.

The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to complete the reservation for the panchayat elections by March 17. Along with this, the court has also fixed the dates for the election of Pradhan, Zilla Panchayat members and block heads. The court has also directed that the election of the village head by 30 April, the district panchayat member by 15 May and the block chief by 15 May.
The High Court, hearing the petitioner Vinod Upadhyay’s petition, was very upset with the state Election Commission’s stand and announced the dates for holding elections and gave strict orders. Hearing the plea of ​​Vinod Upadhyay, the High Court on Wednesday sought a response from the Election Commission. After presenting the program of the Election Commission, the Commission sought a response from the Uttar Pradesh government, which was heard on Thursday. In fact, in the program presented by the Election Commission in the High Court, it was revealed that elections will be held by May. On this, the High Court clearly said that the proposal for holding panchayat elections in May cannot be accepted at first sight. The court said that as per rules, elections were to be completed by 13 January 2021. The High Court rejected the program as contrary to constitutional provisions.
In its program, the Election Commission told the High Court that on January 22, the voter list for the panchayat elections has been prepared. Delimitation work has also been completed by 28 January, but the reservation of seats has to be finalized by the state government. For this reason, the election program has not been released so far. The commission said that after the completion of the reservation for all seats, the election will take 45 days.

The High Court has ordered the formation of all panchayats by 15 May. Case filed the application for not completing the panchayat elections till 13 January. In this case, not to complete the process of panchayat elections within five years was said to be a violation of article 243 (e). The government had given reasons for Covid not being able to complete the panchayat elections in time.
Advocate General Raghavendra Singh and Additional Advocate General Manish Goyal held the government’s stand. Advocate Pankaj Kumar Shukla presented the case on behalf of the petitioner. During this time, the High Court was very angry with the stand of the State Election Commission and announced the dates for holding elections, and gave strict orders.
