Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist): NASA astronaut Kate Rubins said she plans to cast her next vote from space. Kate Rubins told The Associated Press on Friday that she plans to cast her next vote from space more than 200 miles from Earth. Rubin is just outside Moscow in Star City, Russia, preparing for the launch in
mid-October with two Cosmonauts.

Rubin said that I think it is really important for everyone to vote. If we can do it from space, I believe people can do it from the ground as well. Please tell that most American astronauts live in Houston. Texas law allows them to vote from space using secure electronic voting. Mission Control forwarded the ballot to the space station and sent the completed ballot back to the county clerk.

NASA’s Mission Control Center in Houston sends a secure electronic ballot to astronauts who send it back and the control center then emails it to the county clerk’s office for filing. According to NASA, all this is done a year before the voting process begins. Where astronauts choose which election they want to participate in, and then submit a request for absentee voting six months before the election. Meanwhile, for the United States presidential election 2020 will be voted on Tuesday, November 3. For details, let us know that Rubin joined NASA in 2009 and completed his first spacecraft in 2016 as a member of the expedition 48/49 crew.
