(Priyanka Gupta, Intern Journalist)Dubai: The recently formed US Space Force is deploying its troops to the Arabian Peninsula. 20 Space Force airmen are now stationed at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The Force, sent by President Donald Trump, represents the sixth branch of the US Army and the first new military service since the creation of the Air Force in 1947. The US now faces new threats from Iran’s missile program, jams, hacks, and blind satellite efforts in the region.

Last year, the US officially launched Space Command to strengthen its position in space. This is a major step towards the formation of the new US Space Force by the Trump administration. The US Space Force as the sixth branch of the US Army to increase the country’s dominance in the space world. There may be a future war in outer space, but the Arabian desert has already seen the world’s first space war, which military experts call the world’s first space war – the desert storm that began in 1991 to remove Iraqi forces from Kuwait. Iran’s missile program is facing new threats in the region.

The United States launched Operation Desert Storm against Iraq on 16 January 1991. Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein attacked Kuwait in August 1990, when 38 countries, including the US, turned against him. This war is known as the ‘Gulf War’. During this war, India had evacuated 1.5 lakh Indian nationals from Kuwait in ‘Operation Airlift’.
