(Rishitha Jaladi, Intern Journalist)Vijayawada: Mava Mattar is a green peas vegetable containing khoya. You can make an exception to your healthy diet and go for a rich and spicy green chutney with Mava.

Mava Mattar is delicious and here is a simplified version of cooking it at home. It’s preparation time is 15 minutes and cooks for another 8 minutes. These measures mentioned below will serve three.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup green peas, 2 cloves, 1 cup Mava, grated, 1 cup tomatoes, finely chopped, 1 tablespoon coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon dry ginger powder, 1/2 spoon garam masala, a small piece of ginger, finely chopped, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder and 1 tablespoon ghee.

For garnish: 2 tablespoons chopped coriander.

Method:

  1. Sprinkle a little water on the peas in a microwave-safe plate and microwave on high for 3 minutes. Remove and keep aside.
  2. Combine the ghee and cloves in another microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for a minute. 
  3. Add the mava, mix well and again microwave on high for a minute, till its lightly browned.
  4. add green chilies, coriander powder, dry ginger powder, garam masala, ginger, and chili powder along with 1/2 cup of water and microwave for 2 minutes.
  5. Finally add the tomatoes, peas, and salt and microwave on high for 1 more minute. Now serve hot garnished with coriander.
