Basirhat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Cyclone Amphan affected West Bengal and announced an interim help of one thousand crore rupees to the state. Regarding the declaration of relief, Mamta Banerjee said that PM Modi has announced an emergency fund of one thousand crores but it is not clear whether it is an advance or a package.
He said, “He (PM Modi) will take a decision on this later. He has said that it can also be advanced. I told him that whatever decision you take, we give you the details (post-cyclone).
After an aerial tour of the affected areas in Basirhat and a review meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mamta said that in this hour of crisis, there is a need to work together.
Banerjee also informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the situation arising after the cyclone in the state.
So far 77 people have lost their lives in the state due to the cyclone. Infrastructure, public and private property have suffered extensive damage in North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Kolkata, Howrah, and Hooghly districts.

Modi said, “I announce interim help of Rs 1,000 crore to the state. Apart from homes, a detailed assessment of the damage to agriculture, electricity, and other sectors will be done.
