(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) WHO: Worldwide, cases of infection with the coronavirus are constantly increasing, as well as waiting for the vaccine. After all, when will the world get a successful vaccine, this question has only remained a question for the last several months, to which no firm answer has been found so far. Although scientists are definitely hoping that in the next year i.e. 2021, there will be a vaccine, how and when it will be available to people all over the world is also a big question.
Meanwhile, World Health Organization chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan has said something about the corona vaccine that it may increase the concerns of the youth. Indeed, Soumya Swaminathan has stated that a healthy and young person may have to wait until 2022 for the corona vaccine because those who are health workers or people at the highest risk will be preferred for the vaccine first. He said that first, the focus would be on immunization of the elderly and other vulnerable groups.
Swaminathan has hoped that at least one effective vaccine will be available by the year 2021, but that too will be available only in limited quantities. Therefore, the first vaccination will be initiated with health care workers and front-line workers, and those who are most at risk will be given priority. Last month too, Soumya Swaminathan gave a statement regarding the vaccine, in which he said that it is difficult to find a sufficient quantity of corona vaccine before 2022 so that people can return to normal life. He said that the vaccine currently undergoing trials will take at least 12 months.
In a recent press conference on the state of the covid-19 epidemic in the country, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has said that due to coronavirus only one percent of 18-25 years old and 10 percent of 26-44 years old. People have died. Since the death toll from the corona is lower among the youth, but many scientists have expressed concern that the corona infection is increasing among the youth, and by negligence they are increasing the infection further, causing others. So until all the people get the vaccine, there is a need to be vigilant with this virus and follow the rules like washing hands, applying masks.
