Akshi Kamboj (intern journalist): After over 6 months of coronavirus outbreak, which infected more than 13 million people and killed over 5 lakh 71 thousand all over the world. Health sectors of various countries are working day and night to find a cure for this deadly virus. Amidst this healthy fight among countries, Russia claims successful trials of the world’s first COVID-19 vaccine.

Vadim Tarasov, the director of the Institute for translational medicine and biotechnology stated that the first group of volunteers would be discharged on 15th July and second on 20th July. The Sechenov first Moscow state medical university began clinical trials of the vaccine on June 18. The researchers targeted Sars-Cov-2, the root cause of the coronavirus disease.

“The safety of the vaccine is confirmed. it corresponds to the safety of those vaccines that are currently on the market”.

Alexander Lukashev, the director of the institute of medical parasitology, tropical and vector-borne diseases at Sechenov University, told Sputnik.

However, no information regarding the entrance of this vaccine in the commercial production stage has been given.

There were 38 volunteers in total within the age group of 18 to 65, who were further divided into two groups. The first group consisted of 18 volunteers who were vaccinated on 18th June and the second group which consisted of the remaining 20 volunteers were vaccinated on 23rd June. some of the volunteers reported headaches and elevated body temperature but all of these symptoms were completely resolved within 24 hours of the vaccination.

With the rising menace due to the outbreak of coronavirus worldwide, this research done by the Russian institute has instilled a ray of hope among the people worldwide.
