(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Lucknow: 106 women who have done a diploma from Government Polytechnics in cities like Maharajganj, Mau, Bareilly, and Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh have got jobs in a major Tech company in Gurgaon. At a time when reports of job losses and pay cuts are coming out in the recession caused by the covid-19 epidemic, employment of more than a hundred young women is a big achievement. The girls have got this Employment opportunity in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh state training and placement cell, UPSTPC.

UPSTPC has been set by the joint entrance examination Council Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with Lucknow based nonprofit organization. The objective of this project is to ensure quality skills training for students studying in government polytechnics across the state. Also, the placement cell of those Institutes strengthens in the placement cell on better management.

Under this project, employable skill training is imparted in a dedicated training workshop by Medha. Including Interview preparation, resume writing, entrepreneurship, workplace, etiquette, and leadership skills training. Medha has been working in the field of employment skills development of youth since 2011. In the past years, it has linked 25000 youths from 200 institutes internships and full-time jobs with more than 150 companies in the country.

In August, when Medha came to know about in job opportunities in Gurgaon based technology company VVDN Tech Private Limited, the organisation linked interested students with the company. The organisation also arranged for safe transportation for 106 young women selected for the job to Gurgaon between covid-19. Along with this, Medha’s role in parents’ Council was also important to allow daughter to go out from home for work. During the diploma in Maharajganj based Mahamaya Institute of Information Technology Electronic Engineering, Akriti Tripathi, who was the part of workshop supported by Medha said that when I received the VVDN Tech Private Limited job offer, the family was a little apprehensive about my exit.

Although I did not want to miss this opportunity because I believe it is very important for women to be financially independent. In a few days, I have adapted myself to suit the new city. I am grateful to Medha for supporting and guiding us at every step. On this achievement Piyush Gupta, Director of the Campaign and Area Manager of Medha said that as an organisation our goal is to provide training to the students to get employment and then connect then with employment opportunities. The young women taking advantage of the job opportunities in Gurgaon have set an example for those who are anxious to work away from their homes.
