Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist): Lucknow; In the Banthara poisonous liquor scandal, the government has taken a tough stand and removed Lucknow Police Commissioner Sujit Pandey late on Tuesday night. ATS’s ADG DK Thakur has been made the new Police Commissioner of Lucknow. Thakur took over as the Commissioner of Police at around 1.30 pm.

Thakur, a 94-batch IPS officer, was the captain of Lucknow from 2010 to 2012. Sujit Pandey has been made ADG of ATC at Sitapur. At the same time, after waiting for a long time on deputation to CBI, GK Goswami, a 1997 batch IPS waiting to return, has been made the new IG of ATS. While waiting, the 1995 batch IPS Rajkumar has been posted as ADG Personnel at Police Headquarters.

In Lucknow and Firozabad, the Excise Department has also taken major action in cases of deaths due to poisonous liquor. Excise Inspector of Lucknow Alok Pandey has been suspended for gross negligence in duties.

At the same time, district excise officers Sudarshan Singh and Ram Swarth Chaudhary of Lucknow and Firozabad have been removed and attached to the headquarters. The joint team of Rajdhani and Firozabad caught the sale of illicit liquor at Kotdar Nankau in Latifnagar. After this Alok Pandey was suspended. There is already departmental action against Pandey.
