(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): Streamer ZEE5 announced the first original Pakistani show Churails on Wednesday, to be premiered on its channel on August 11. ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd recently announced the return of its much-loved entertainment brand Zindagi on ZEE5.
The show, directed by Asim Abbasi, seeks to expose the hypocrisy of patriarchal societies that are curtailing women’s freedoms. The director said the series asks critical concerns about the status of women and he is confident it will strike a chord with the global audience.
The show will be about the stories of four self-proclaimed witches who come together to start a secret detective agency to uncover cheating husbands among the elite of the city. “As their operations expand, they come to be saviors of abused, harassed, and mistreated women. The gripping and fast-paced storyline covers myriad issues such as child abuse, sexism, the domination of class and race,” the official plotline read.
The casting team includes Sarwat Gilani, Nimra Bucha, Mehar Bano, and Yasra Rizvi. ZEE5 and Zindagi have posted the poster on their social media accounts, offering viewers an insight into the Churails world.
