(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist) : Kolkata, July 26, With the death of 40 more people from Covid-19 in West Bengal on Sunday, the total number of deaths due to infection in the state increased to 1,372. This information was given in the bulletin issued by the state health department. Accordingly, out of 40 death cases, 39 patients were also suffering from other diseases. The number of infected people reached 58,718 with 2,341 new cases of Covid-19 infection reported in 24 hours in the state. According to the bulletin, out of the new cases of deaths, 17 died in Kolkata, nine in Howrah, five in North 24 Parganas, four in South 24 Parganas, two each in Hooghly and Darjeeling while one patient died in North Dinajpur.

At the same time, out of the new cases reported on Sunday, 648 cases were reported in Kolkata, 542 in North 24 Parganas, 291 in Howrah, 133 in South 24 Parganas, 127 in Hooghly and 123 in Darjeeling. The remaining 477 new cases were reported in other districts of the state. According to the bulletin, the number of patients treated in the state rose to 19,595. During the last 24 hours, 2,097 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the state, thereby improving the recovery rate of patients to 64.29 percent. In West Bengal, 37,751 patients have become infection-free so far. The bulletin said that a total of 16,045 samples have been tested in the state since Saturday.
