(Namita Pradhan, Intern Journalist) New Delhi; All states and Union territories were warned by the center against the use of an N-95 mask with valve respirators by people, saying the mask does not prevent the virus from spreading out and is harmful to the measures used for its containment.
The Director-General of Health Service in the Ministry of Health has written a letter to the Principal Secretaries of Health and medical education of states said that he has observed the inappropriate use of the N-95 masks, especially for those with the valve respirators used by the public.
The DGHS has advised people to use homemade protective cover which will cover both face and mask. It is available on the website of the Ministry of Health.
The N-95 mask used for valve respirators does not protect from the virus from escaping out of the mask.
