(Adity Shaw, Intern Journalist) : Kolkata, Senior doctors in West Bengal held the Trinamool Congress government’s week, blaming the reckless attitude of people regarding lockdown guidelines and segregated habitat rules for the rise in cases of coronavirus infection in the state. The two-day bandh is welcomed by the decision. Oncologist (Surgical Oncologist) Dr. Diptendra Sarkar admitted that the community prevalence of Covid-19 has been identified in some parts of Bengal.
He said that a two-day bandh in the state would help the administration to control the situation to an extent. “In many areas, where contact is not possible, community dissemination was seen,” he said. But this does not mean that community dissemination has taken place across the state. “Talking about the new shutdown policy, the government said,” We have to stop the rate of infection. We have to bring down the cases which have been growing for some time and this shutdown is being done completely thoughtfully. He said, “If it is applicable on Thursday and Saturday, then people will not get to do much on Friday. And Sunday is not usually a busy day. Therefore, the bandh is taking only two days and not more than that.
If we keep it in force in the coming week as well, it may reduce the pressure on the health sector. Matters have increased. The Bengal government on Monday announced shutdown on Thursday and Saturday for two days a week to break the link of Coronavirus infection in the state. The announcement comes at a time when a record 2,282 new cases have been reported in the state in a single day, after which the total number of infected has increased to 44,769.
