(Priyanka Gupta, Intern Journalist)New Delhi: Before the Bhoomi Poojan for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said that through this historic program, the country is bringing back the glory of its past. Not only this, but it is also establishing the values cherished by his people. The Vice President on Sunday quoted Vedic scholar Arthur Anthony Macdonell in a social media post on the topic of ‘rebuilding the temple, establishing values’, saying that Rama’s views, as stated in Indian texts, are fundamentally secular. He has had a profound influence on people’s lives and thoughts for at least two and a half millennia.
Referring to the Ram Rajya, Naidu said that it was used by the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi to define a well-governed state. He said that it is based on a people-centered democratic regime based on values of sympathy, inclusive, peaceful co-existence, and constant search for better quality of life.
Ram an incarnation of Indian culture
The Vice President said Bhoomi Pujan for temple construction is such an event that connects most of us with our magnificent cultural heritage. This is truly a natural celebration moment, as we are bringing back the glory of the past and establishing our values. Defining Lord Rama as an incarnation of Indian culture, Naidu said that he was an ideal king, an ideal human being. As the king of Ayodhya, he adopted values like truth, peace, cooperation, compassion, justice, inclusiveness, devotion, sacrifice, and sympathy. This is the root of the Indian world view.
