(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); An Indian man jumped into the river to save the lives of three children drowning in the US state of California. A 29-year-old Sikh youth died in the affair to save the lives of children. The man has been identified as Manjeet Singh. In fact, Manjit Singh had gone from his home in Fresno County to Reedley Beach, California. During this time he saw three children struggling to avoid drowning in the Kings River.
Two girls of eight-eight years and a 10-year-old boy were playing on the river bank, at the same time all three were washed away in the river. Manjit, 29-year-old Indian-origin Sikh who was present on the river with his relative and some friends, leaped into the river to save them after seeing the children drowning. He tried to save the children with the help of a rope, but he himself got swept away in the water. After drowning in water, Manjeet did not act for 40 minutes.
He was later taken out of the water and taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Police Commander Ediger said that during this time people passing by saved two children. An eight-year-old girl was immersed in water for 15 minutes and was also rescued. He was rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital in Fresno on Friday afternoon, where his condition remains critical.
