(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): More than 54 thousand ration cards have been fake in the district. None of the beneficiaries are reaching for the grain on these cards. Even after the notice has been sent, no information has been made available by the beneficiaries to the department. Now the process of canceling it has started. More than six thousand ration cards have been canceled.
The number of ration cardholders in the district was 4 92 thousand, which has increased to around 5 lakh 95 thousand this month. Nearly one lakh 2 thousand new ration cards have been made. Out of which 99 thousand 978 ration cards have been distributed. The process of distribution of the remaining ration cards is underway. Foodgrains are being distributed from Pos Machine since January. 54039 consumers are not reaching to pick up food grains since the distribution of food grains started with the Pos machine.
Subsequent notices were sent to such consumers from the subdivision level. It was said in the notice that there is no lifting of food grains in your name. Your ration card is not linked to the bank and the Aadhar card. But these consumers did not respond to the notice. After this, the District Supply Officer directed to cancel all such ration cards. Following the instructions of the District Supply Officer, the process of canceling the ration card has started. So far 6737 ration cards have been canceled.
