He said that Deputy Commissioner of Police Uday Shankar Banerjee died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city on Friday morning. He was around 55 years old.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma, while condoling Banerjee’s death, called him a ‘Corona martyr’.
