(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): The Press Council of India has strongly objected to the way coverage of Sushant Singh Rajput case is being done by many media institutions. It has said that while coverage of the case, the media should follow the journalistic norms and not conduct parallel trials on its own behalf.
The Press Council said they are concerned that the coverage of alleged suicide by a film actor by several media institutions is a violation of journalistic conduct. In such a situation they are advised to follow the norms made by them.
The Press Council said that it is not correct to report on the basis of Gossip in relation to the investigations being conducted by government agencies. It has also misreported the reporting on a day-to-day basis without ascertaining the facts regarding the crime.
