(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): Everybody paid tribute to Bharataratna late President Pranab Mukherjee in his own way, meanwhile, an artist has carved a piece of marble to resemble Pranab da’s idol. Facial texture and glasses are very finely carved. The idol is ready after a week’s hard work. It is as if an attempt has been made to paint and burn it.
Ankush Dewangan, an employee of the Bhilai Steel Plant and a member of the Lalit Kala Akademi, has paid homage by making a statue as small as a grain of gram. When Pranab da was admitted to the hospital, its construction started a week ago. It was to be dedicated to the desire of his health. News of the death came before this. Ankush says that after the death, the work of making the idol continued for three consecutive days. After making the smallest idol of Pranab Mukherjee, he displayed it by placing it on his nail.
Sculptor Ankush Dewangan explains that he has the talent to make sculptures out of small pieces of marble. He is also fulfilling this hobby with a job at Bhilai Steel Plant. A piece of about four-five inches was taken for the idol of Pranab Mukherjee. It was scrapped with blades and other tools. It took the greatest effort to make eyes, nose, ears, and lips.
