(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Amravati: The central government said that the notification of the President’s offer to set up a separate High Court of Andhra Pradesh with Amravati as the principal bench cannot be interpreted to mean that the government has decided to declare Amaravati as the capital of the state. The central government said that it is not necessary that the head branch of the High Court be in the state capital.
The union home ministry said this in an affidavit filed in the High Court on a petition challenging the state government’s move to create 3 capitals in Andhra Pradesh. The court is currently hearing petitions, filed by various stakeholders. The Petition state that the Andhra Pradesh decentralization and inclusive development of all regions act 2020 should be declared unconstitutional. The central government in response to the affidavit said, ‘the state government has the right to decide on what will be the state capital, the central government has no role in it.’
