(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): In another shocking display of fascism, over 8 workers of Shiv Sena attacked a retired Navy official for allegedly forwarding a satirical cartoon on Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, and Sonia Gandhi.
The 66-year-old Navy Veteran Madan Sharma was apparently called downstairs outside the gate of his building’s compound by a local ‘Shakha Pramukh’ of Shiv Sena and when Madan Sharma reached, there were 8 people waiting for him. The 8 people can be seen brutally assaulting the old-age navy veteran in a CCTV footage. After much persistence, an FIR has been filed at Kandivali police station.
This attack comes amid Maharashtra police’s continued detention of Republic TV’s reporter Anuj Kumar, video journalist Yashpaljit Singh, and Ola cab driver Pradeep Dilip Dhanavade.
On Tuesday, the part also sponsored the demolition of Kangana Ranaut’s house in Pali Hill done by BMC because the actress felt ‘unsafe’ for which it received backlash.
