(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Kanpur: Water supply from the water treatment plant of Ganga Barrage came to a standstill on Friday. The plant had to be closed due to leakage in the main water pipeline Near Ganesh Udyan of Phool Bagh. Due to this, people living areas ranging from north to south could not get drinking water, there was a storm in all the surrounding areas including Vishnu Puri, Azad Nagar, and Nawabganj.
The reason for this was that Water used to be transported from the Barrage itself for the water tank of jalkal here. In this which both options were disconnected. Councilor Pappu Pandey has a complaint about this on the Chief Minister’s portal, even after talking to the engineers of Jal Nigam and Jal Kal, the problem was not resolved. Along with tweeting, he has also informed the CM.
He says that the Jal Nigam should we keep alternative arrangements. If the plant closes on the next day, then the drinking water also stops. Here, the water did not reach nearby one and a half dozen of mohallas from leakage to Birhana Road to Patkapur near Ganesh Udyan. When social worker Chandan Rai Garg complaint to superintendent engineer Ramsharan off Jal Nigam in this regard, he told that there is leakage in the pipeline of 1400 mm diameter. It will take 2 to 3 days to recover. The water supply is expected to be restored from Monday.
