On September 17 last year, Shardiya Navaratri started from the next day of the Sarvapitra Amavasya. This time Pitrupaksha started from 2 September which ended on 17 September. From the 18 September onwards, there was Adhikmaas. It is 28 days old. No festival is celebrated in this interval.
Therefore, the common man will have to wait a full month. The Shardiya Navratri will begin on 17 October. Every 36 months, ie, one month in three years comes of Adhikmaas.
This time Diwali will be celebrated on November 14, due to Navratri starting a month late. Whereas it was on 27 October last year. All the major festivals after Ganeshotsav on 22 August due to the overhaul will be delayed 10 to 15 days compared to the previous year.
