(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Gorakhpur: The case of Tal Sumer Sagar, which has been running hot for six months due to the encroachment in Gorakhpur, has now reached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has summoned the administration on 16 October with an order to maintain the status quo. According to the information, Ashish Kumar Saxena had filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court after the petition filed against the administration’s action was dismissed in the High Court. While hearing the case on September 30, a three-judge bench has ordered the administration to present its case within two weeks and maintain the present status at the disputed site. October 16 is the next date of hearing in the case.
So far five petitions filed in the High Court against the removal of illegal encroachment from the land of Tal Sumer Sagar have been dismissed, while two petitions are yet to be heard. On September 10 last month, the High Court’s double bench hearing Ashish Kumar, B Kumar, and Geeta Devi vs State Government, was heard and dismissed together. Joint Magistrate and SDM Sadar Gaurav Singh Sogarwal said that the instructions of the Supreme Court have been known. On the due date, the administration will present its case along with all the necessary documents related to the case.
