Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist): Bihar Police has taken major action to stop the smuggling of liquor in the assembly elections. A list has been submitted to the police of those states for action against the 138 Wanted of neighboring states in the illegal liquor business. The maximum number of smugglers is 63 from UP. The list also includes names of liquor smugglers from Jharkhand and West Bengal.
There is a complete prohibition in Bihar since April 2016. Alcohol is smuggled into Bihar from other states. The names of businessmen from other states have come up in many cases of smuggling. 138 such smugglers are absconding in cases registered in various police stations of Bihar. Since they are residents of another state, Bihar Police has requested the police of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal to take action against them.
The list of liquor smugglers handed over by Bihar Police includes 63 from Uttar Pradesh, 61 from Jharkhand, and 14 from West Bengal. Police of neighboring states has been requested for his arrest. Apart from these smugglers, a list of several suspects involved in the illegal liquor business has also been submitted to Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bengal Police. They are suspected of supplying liquor in Bihar. Police have been requested to keep a watch on the suspects.
It is believed that this step has been taken in view of curbing the smuggling of liquor in the elections. Smuggling of liquor in Bihar is more than in neighboring states. Many gangs of Bihar are involved in this. He smuggles liquor through connivance with miscreants present in other states. In such a situation, if these screws are tightened, then smuggling will also be curbed.
