(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): A POCSO court in Uttar Pradesh has sent a child rape convict to prison sentence till death. The court found him guilty of raping a six-year-old girl in UP’s Hapur district. Special judge Veena Narayan held Dalpat guilty and also slapped a fine of more than Rs two lakh on the convict.
“Under section 6 of the POCSO Act, the accused is sentenced to life till the last breath,” an excerpt from judgment read. A report added that the judgment was delivered in just 22 days after framing of the charges.
The six-year-old girl was abducted, raped, and brutalized by Dalpat. He was arrested on August 14 from Amroha district after police launched a massive manhunt to nab him.
The rape survivor sustained severe injuries to internal organs and was left to die in the field. She was rushed to a hospital after being rescued a day later.
“On Friday (August 7) morning, the girl was finally found after she had been missing for 12 hours. She was lying unconscious and in a bloody condition in the field,” a report said.
