(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Banda: The 70-year-old priest has been sentenced by the court to 7 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for raping a four-year-old girl in Banda. If he does not pay the fine, he will have to spend two months in jail. On August 22, 2015, a four-year-old girl was playing at the door of her house in a locality in the city Kotwali area.
Then the monk prostitute took him to his house on the pretext of giving him toffee and raped her. The girl came home and told the incident to her mother. The accused priest escaped. The girl’s father lodged a report on sections 376, 511, and the Pocso Act the next day in the city Kotwali against the priest Amritanand Arajaria aka Baba’s son Lakshmi Narayan. The police sent him to jail on October 1, 2015. After investigation, a charge-sheet was filed in the court. Assistant Government Advocate Ramsuphal Singh produced 6 witnesses. On Wednesday, the Additional District Sessions Judge sentenced the accused priest. He was out on bail. He was sent to jail. Instructed the District Legal Services Authority to help the victim.
