Saloni Subha ( Intern Journalist ) Direct tax practitioner has requested the capital market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India ( SEBI ) to extend the date of the Settlement Scheme 2020 from October 31 to March 31 because of the pandemic induced disruption.
Sebi launched the Settlement Scheme 2020 in July to give a one-time Settlement opportunity to the entities that have started trade rehearsal in the stock options segment of BSE from April 1, 2014, to September 30 2015 against whom any proceedings are pending.
Earlier Companies were available for the scheme between August 1 to October 30. “We request that the period of onetime settlement should be extended till March 31, 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic,” said Direct Taxes Professional Association president Gopal in a letter to Sebi chairman.
