(Harleen Kaur, Intern Journalist) After Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, the Karnataka government is going to take a tough decision against converting in the name of love jihad. Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa said that the government would take tough steps to stop the conversion in the name of love jihad.
Earlier Karnataka Tourism Minister C.T. Ravi said that a strict law will be enacted in his state against conversion to marriage. He said that his government will not see the spectacle silently against the ‘jihadis’ who play with the honor of women.
It is noteworthy that the minister’s statement came a few days after the Allahabad High Court invalidated the conversion to marriage. Earlier, the governments of BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh have also announced to make laws against ‘Love Jihad’. CT Ravi said in a tweet that in view of the Allahabad High Court’s decision, the Karnataka government will soon enact a law against forced conversions for marriage. Strict action will be taken against whoever is involved in the conversion.
