(Milcah Anila, Intern Journalist) Patna: Will the Bihar Chief Minister’s seat go to the youth? Or will the current CM, Nitish Kumar (69), the leader of the ruling JDU-BJP alliance, own it again? Doubt is going to explode today. The results are alarming as majority exit polls suggest that the Mahaghat bandh, led by Tejaswiyadav (31), a young leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), who is less than half the age of Nitish, is in power. Counting of votes will begin at 8 am on Tuesday at 55 centers set up across 38 districts. However, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not contest the election as he was an MLC.

Heavily secured

Chief Electoral Officer HR Srivastava said that along with the Central Armed Forces of 19 companies, state police have been deployed at the strong rooms where the EVMs are kept. He said the strong rooms would be opened after the completion of the postal vote count on Tuesday morning.

He appealed to the ranks of the political parties not to gather at the counting centers in the wake of the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic. Additional Director General of Police Jitendra Kumar said senior officers would inspect the display screens connected to the CCTVs set up at the counting centers and give necessary directions.

He said another 59 companies (per hundred) were deployed to maintain peace and security. A large number of people at the counting centers were banned from gathering.

By-election results also

The results of the by-polls for 28 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha seat, and 28 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh and 30 Assembly seats in ten other states will also be released today.
