(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): Weird practice is followed in our country in matters of marriage. When it comes to the relationship, the boy is said to be a big officer and Dhannaseth in a private company. But when it comes to sourness after marriage in these relationships, then there can be no more forced and pathetic person than that. This double mentality is causing suffering for many women and their children. The court made this remark while hearing the petition of a woman victim of domestic violence.

The court of Rohini Situation Principal District and Sessions Judge Swarnakanta Sharma, while ruling in favor of the complainant, said that the complainant is the mother of a three-year-old child. She lives separately from her husband and is caring for her parents at her expense. While the husband is a big businessman in Bhopal.

This man himself has admitted in his affidavit that he had incurred expenses on both sides of his marriage (boy and girl). It is clear that his financial position is very strong. But when it came to the wife and her child to pay alimony, she immediately resigned from the company and now she does not have a single penny in her name. While still, he has admitted that he has come to Delhi by airplane to hear the matter. The court said what a double mindset people have. The court has directed the husband to pay the wife and child the alimony amount fixed by the lower court. Also, pay the previous dues.

The lower court has fixed maintenance of Rs 15,000
In February 2020, the Metropolitan Magistrate’s court had directed the husband to give interim alimony of Rs 15,000 for the woman and her innocent child who complained of domestic violence in this case. But instead of paying alimony, the husband challenged the order in the sessions court. The sessions court upheld the lower court’s decision and asked the husband to pay alimony to the wife and child as soon as possible.

Defending her financial condition, the defendant’s husband also took computers and laptops taken in her name in her mother’s name. Even the company whose owner was the first defendant’s husband transferred the company in the name of his mother, so as to avoid paying alimony to the wife and three-year-old child. While in the house several domestic helpers are employed to look after the mother of the defendant’s husband.

It is the responsibility of the husband to not only pay alimony for the wife and children but also to pay the entire expenses of the house, treatment of disease, and education of the children for their living. He cannot escape from it.
