(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: The owner of MDH, Mahasriya Dharampal Gulati, known as Masala King, died on Thursday at the age of 98. Dharampal Gulati breathed his last at 5.38 am on December 3 at Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Delhi. It is being told that he had been infected with the Coronavirus earlier, however, after recovering from it, he had a heart attack on Thursday morning, after which he died.
Mahashay Dharampal Gulati was born on 27 March 1923 in Sialkot, Pakistan and it was from here that his business was founded.
The company started with a small shop, which his father had started before the partition. However, at the time of the partition of the country in 1947, his family moved to Delhi. After reaching Delhi, he bought a tanga, in which he used to carry and carry passengers between Connaught Place and Karol Bagh. Tired of poverty, he sold his Tanga and in 1953 rented a shop in Chandni Chowk. After this, he opened a shop named Mahasia Di Hatti (MDH) and started the business of the spices trade. As soon as people came to know that Sialkot’s Deli chili ones have now come to Delhi, their business started spreading.
Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal mourned the death of Mahashay Dharampal Gulati. He wrote, ‘Dharampal Ji was a very inspiring personality. He dedicated his life to society. God bless his soul. ‘ The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi wrote on Twitter, ‘India’s most inspiring entrepreneur, MDH owner Dharmapala Mahashiya passed away this morning.
may his soul rest in peace.’ Last year, President Ramnath Kovind conferred Padmavibhushan on Mahasya Dharampal Gulati for his outstanding contribution in the field of food processing.
