(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist) Patna: Two major reasons were discussed in the meeting called 41 days after the assembly elections to review the defeat. Most leaders believe that the absence of Lalu Prasad Yadav, the RJD chief, made a difference in the outcome and the RJD lagged behind the previous elections. Some leaders, including Vrishin Patel, also say that due to Tejashwi Yadav’s being surrounded by a circle and not being listened to by senior leaders by the Mitra mandali, the following things did not reach the leadership. This became a major reason for the defeat. The RJD had won 80 seats in the 2015 assembly elections, while this time had to be satisfied with 75 seats.
Out of 144 RJD candidates, 69 have been defeated. 17 of them say that at the behest of the government they were defeated under the conspiracy. The remaining 52 candidates gave different reasons. RJD state general secretary Vinod Yadav said that during the assembly elections, the political atmosphere of the state was such that everyone was looking at Tejashwi Yadav as the next chief minister. There was a crowd of 40 to 50 thousand people in the rallies of the Leader of the Opposition. In such a situation, RJD workers are sorry for being away from power. For further preparations, it is necessary to find the reasons for the defeat.
