(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist) Patna: The government has become tough on the strike of junior doctors of Bihar. The health department has decided to deal strictly with the doctors who are on strike. Legal action has been ordered on obstructing the work on the striking doctors on the orders of the Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Pratyay Amrit. It has also been asked to cut salary on the basis of no work no pay. The Principal Secretary has instructed all the Medical College Hospital management to immediately meet the doctors and ensure action on the doctors and also provide information to the headquarters. Bihar’s health system has collapsed due to the strike of junior doctors since Wednesday.
The demand for increased scholarship led to a boycott by junior doctors on Wednesday morning. President of the PMCH Junior Doctors Association, Dr. Harendra Kumar said that about 150 junior doctors of all medical college hospitals are boycotting work. He was forced to strike even once before. The strike was announced in August but the Health Department had declared the stay illegal by taking a stay on the strike from the High Court. Let us tell you that junior doctors are angry that there is no increase in scholarship since January. They are demanding the same honorarium as junior doctors of AIIMS Patna and IGIMS.
