(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Lucknow: To prevent overcrowding in the New Year celebrations, the UP chief secretary has issued instructions to the administration and police officers. He has said that it is natural for people to gather more in mass programs, which will increase the chances of spreading corona infection. Special care should be taken in programs to ensure full coverage of covid-19 protocol. Any program to be celebrated on New Year will be organized only after giving prior notice to the District Magistrate of the concerned district, the Commissioner of Police in the Commissionerate Districts.
For effective control and prevention of Covid-19, detailed guidelines have been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for complete compliance with the guidelines issued from time to time. These guidelines have been issued to all the Mandalayukta, Additional Director General of Police, Inspector General of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police Range, Commissioner of Police Lucknow and Gautam Budh Nagar, District Magistrates, and Senior Superintendents of Police.
The Chief Secretary has said that the name, address, mobile number of the organizer should be obtained and listed at the time of permission for the Navar program. The estimated number of people joining the program should also be taken. The organizers have been asked to inform covid-19 about the rescue guidelines regarding the programs proposed by them. The Chief Secretary has also clarified that he will be responsible for complying with the covid protocol and guidelines during the program. In any closed place, such as a room, 50 percent of the rated capacity in the event of a room but up to a maximum of 100 persons at a time and open space, in case of a program in the ground, only less than 40 percent of the area of such places is allowed. Use of face masks, social distancing, thermal scanning, sanitizer, and handwash has been made mandatory for those participating in the program.
Keeping in mind New Year’s programs, for effective prevention of infection of Covid-19, it has been asked to carry out continuous publicity through district-level PA system, loud hellers, etc. Instructions have been given to motivate people to celebrate New Year in their home. It has been asked to ensure the effective arrangement of police patrolling around the program sites, continuous monitoring through drone cameras at the program sites, and special need of UP 112 vehicles at the program sites.
Apart from this, social media will also be closely monitored at the district level to prevent the readiness of misleading rumors that are provoking and spreading hatred on the New Year.
The local notification mechanism will be active.
There will be adequate police management around liquor shops and bars etc. Hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, railway stations, bus stations, metro stations, main routes, and markets will be attentive at the crossroads.
