(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist)Mansukh Vasava, a Member of Parliament from Gujarat and a former Union Minister who has been vocal on tribal affairs, resigned from BJP membership on Tuesday and said that he will also resign as a member of Lok Sabha after the budget session of Parliament.
Vasava had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week demanding that the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change be withdrawn notification declaring 121 villages of Narmada district as environmentally sensitive.
Vasava, a six-time MP from Bharuch, said in a letter to Gujarat BJP President RC Patil, “I am resigning so that my mistakes do not spoil the party’s image.” I have been a loyal worker of the party, so please forgive me.
In a letter written to Patil on December 28, Vasava said that he would resign from Bharuch as an MP after meeting the Speaker of the Lok Sabha during the budget session of Parliament. Vasava said that he tried his best to remain loyal to the party and imbibe the party’s values in his life.
He said, I am finally a human being and a man makes mistakes. To ensure that the party is not harmed by my mistakes, I resign from the party and apologize to the party. BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya said the party received the resignation via social media.
Pandya said, Patil has spoken to them and assured them that every problem will be solved. Vasava is a senior party leader and MP in Gujarat and we will solve all his problems.
